Christmas is Coming! Head on over to Cook's Woods Christmas Tree Farm for your perfect tree.

L-R: Charlie Clark, Dave Cook, Vice-President Barb Stockhausen Dave Cook

Today’s speaker was Dave Cook of Cook’s Woods Christmas Tree Farm.  Located between Fennimore and Montfort, Cook’s Woods Christmas Tree Farm planted their first trees in 1995 and sold their first trees around 2000.  Now comprising 50 acres and 40,000 trees, there is a lot more work involved than simply planting the trees and waiting 7 – 10 years for the trees to grow tall enough to sell.  The trees grow 6” – 12” annually. Spring work on the farm includes grinding stumps, spreading fertilizer, and planting trees. In the summer their work includes removing cones (some trees could have close to 1000 cones), basal pruning, leader work and trimming and shearing to shape the tree so it grows properly.  Cook’s Woods Christmas Tree Farm features six varieties of trees. Scotch Pine and White Pine are the two long needled varieties grown on the farm. They also grow four types of fir trees; Balsam, Concolor, Canaan and Fraser. Trees can be purchased pre-cut or cut-your-own. Wreaths are also available. The Cook family invites you to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while you find the perfect Christmas tree.
