After receiving our donation of $2,117, Angie Wright and Nathan Manwiller, of the aquatic center fundraising committee, provided additional details on the new center.

Overall, construction has gone very well.  The only snag, and the reason why the grand opening had to be delayed, is the continual delay in receiving some filters that were originally scheduled to arrive April 1.  A positive to the delay, though, is that the slide should arrive and be ready for use by the new opening date.  Originally the center would have had to close for several days to allow the slide to be installed.

In addition to the pool foundation itself, there have been some cosmetic changes to the concession stand (the location has remained the same) and men’s bath house, but lots of updates to the women’s bath house (including seven new stalls in the bathroom).

The total cost of the center is just over $7 million, of which the committee raised over $1 million.  Any money not used on the actual construction is being saved for maintenance.

Entry is free on June 25 for the grand opening, and personnel will also be selling season passes.  In addition to the hot dogs the Optimists are providing, Bob Hundhausen is funding the 200 scoops of Vesperman’s Ice Cream and Jordan Holthaus is providing water.
