Let's make our community pool truly special!

The pool at the Platteville Family Aquatic Center has built in 1996.  Structural failures in spring 2024 made it unsafe to operate.  A referendum for a new pool was held in April of 2025.  Platteville residents showed overwhelming support for a $6.9M new pool with 76% of voters voting YES. Included in the referendum was the complete pool structure replacement, updated bathhouse and mechanical building. However additional features and amenities were not included so a fundraising team was formed to raise money to cover these costs.

Molly Zuehlke and Nathan Manwiller representing the fundraising team spoke at our meeting.  Molly and Nathan shared how the pool has impacted their families. They detailed reasons why having a pool matters:

  • Swimming promotes fitness for all ages. Swim lessons prevent drowning and save lives.

  • Lifeguarding and swim instruction jobs teach responsibility and leadership skills to teens.

  • Attracts visitors from surrounding areas, supporting local businesses and tourism.

  • Pools being neighbors together and create lasting memories for families across generations.

Their team put together a Fundraising Wishlist that includes, a slide, play structure, additional play features, shade structures, picnic/pavilion, with a fundraising goal of $800,000. If you would like to help restore Platteville’s tradition of summer swimming and create new memories for generations to come, please consider making a donation.
