Mike Mair talked about his journey to find and restore a US Army M38A1 Jeep. This type of Jeep was first built during the Korean War and was used until the mid-1970's. After purchasing the Jeep, Mike totally disassembled it, cleaned all the individual components using new laser technology, painted each part and reassembled the entire Jeep. This passion project was completed with the help of four of his friends. As Mike stated, "It is amazing what five guys in a garage can accomplish!"
The beautifully restored Jeep outfitted with a replica of a 50 caliber machine gun was on display outside of Country Kitchen so we could all see the fruits of their labor. Mike has taken the Jeep to shows where he displays it with a mannequin dressed in an authentic military uniform. He encourages kids to climb inside and check it out. The Jeep will be at City Park for this year's Memorial Day program.
