Congratulations to our "Honor Club Citation" Recipients

Each year, Optimist International announces the criteria for receiving various club awards.  The two most visible awards are Honor Club and Distinguished Club designation.

Quality programming, club operations, and community impact help determine the success of an Optimist club, and the criteria to be designated as an Honor or Distinguished Club are the foundation for long-term success.  An Honor Club has demonstrated the ability to meet their financial obligations, serve the needs of their community, and maintain membership.  A Distinguished club has met those obligations but either increased their membership by 15 or built a new club of at least 15 members.

Bob Hundhausen was club president during the 2024-2025 Optimist year that saw the Platteville Optimist Club grow their membership by at least three members.  Out of over 50 clubs in the Southern Wisconsin (SWIS) District of Optimist International, Platteville was one of just two clubs to receive at least Honor Club status.  Bob Hundhausen, treasurer Duane Borgen and secretary Jerry Schewe were recognized for their leadership at the 2025-2026 fourth quarter SWIS convention.  Each received a certificate and lanyard.  Hundhausen also received a lapel pin denoting his accomplishment.
