Platteville Fire Facility Construction Update

Retired Fire Fighter and Optimist Member Paul Budden donned his fire helmet to update us on the construction progress at the new Platteville Fire Facility. A feasibility study for the project was begun in 2022, and in 2023 the Fire Facility Capital Campaign Fundraising Committee was tasked with raising an additional $1.5 million for costs not covered by the federal appropriation grant, the city or the townships.  To date, they are just over $300,000 over their $1.5 million goal, and that has allowed the department to acquire items they had to delete to get under budget.  One item Paul mentioned was a forced entry door that can be used for training purposes.  Construction is currently moving along, with an August 2026 completion date and full occupancy date of October 2026.
