Platteville Optimist Club President Terri Ellis, left, presents a check to Danielle Lynch, representing the Platteville Holiday Project. The organization assists families in our community who are in need of assistance during the holiday season. They organize the annual "Coats For Kids" drive and distribution where they collected 184 coats this year and distributed them to 58 families. They also manage the "Adopt-a-Family Program" where individuals and businesses can help in one of three ways. 1) Make a monetary donation; 2) Adopt a family and you are given a wish list to shop for the family and deliver the gifts for distribution or 3) Adopt a family and have Platteville Holiday Project committee members do the shopping. This year, 80 local families have been adopted. The distribution of gifts, along with food baskets, is December 9th.
